CCA Andratx Gallery

Art center near Andratx

CCA Andratx is located in Sa Coma near Andratx, about a 30-minute drive from Palma. It is a large center for contemporary art, where the visit is not only about the works on the wall, but also about the building, the gardens, and the workplace for artists behind the exhibitions.

Large spaces and a changing program

The exhibition spaces are tall and flexible, with concrete floors, white walls, and lighting that can be adapted to the program. Contemporary art by local and international artists is shown here, and the program may also include concerts and other cultural activities. The café restaurant serves light, homemade meals with a seasonal menu, so the place can function as a calm cultural break and not just a quick gallery stop.

Artists at work

The Artist-in-Residence program is a central part of CCA Andratx. Each month, four international artists can work on site for a month, and one Saturday a month the center holds Open Studios, where the current artists can be met. Open Studios is stated to have free admission from 11.00-14.00, but the time and access should be checked, as the program may change.

The center was founded by Jacob and Patricia Asbæk and therefore has a clear Danish connection in an otherwise international art profile. Outside lies Sa Coma with valley, terraces, and pine-covered mountains at the foot of the Tramuntana.
