Market and square life

Felanitx has its natural center around Plaça d’Espanya, also known as Plaça de ses Palmeres. This is where the town’s trade and social life come together, and for a long time the square has been a place where everyday life, the market and local festivals meet. Around the center there are also bars, eateries and shops, so the town functions more as a living community than as a backdrop.

Wine, produce and inland Mallorca

The town lies in the inland southeast of Mallorca, about 50 kilometers from Palma, and Felanitx belongs to the wine region DO Pla i Llevant de Mallorca. Vineyards, local food and restaurants are therefore part of the town’s identity. Capers are often mentioned as a local specialty, but the strongest documentation in the material points especially to wine, olive oil and markets as reliable food themes.

Streets, church and excursions

A walk through Felanitx can be built around the traditional Mallorcan streets and the Sant Miquel church, which was built between the 16th and 17th centuries and includes several architectural styles. Outside the town itself are some of the municipality’s most notable cultural-historical sights, including Santuari de Sant Salvador and Castell de Santueri. From the town you can feel the contrast between the daily rhythm of the squares and the landscape of fields, almond trees and vines that begins just beyond the streets.
