Short castle tour with visible ruins and a strong Southern Jutland historical background.
Hattesgaard Café is located at Hattesvej 17 in Tvismark on Rømø and is both a café, antique shop and second-hand shop. Here, the break is not just about coffee and cake, but also the setting: an old Rømø farm, where the café is furnished in the former cowshed.
The place states that it is open Tuesday to Saturday, but the times vary in the material, including seasonal opening from 7 April. So check the current opening hours if you are planning your trip around the café itself.
The café serves freshly ground coffee, tea, homemade cake and bread as well as light lunch. Do not necessarily go after one specific cake; the day’s homemade baking is part of the point. The antique and second-hand section is stated to be open during the café’s opening hours, so the coffee break can flow into a browse among shelves, porcelain and old finds.
Hattesgaard is among Rømø’s oldest farms and is located in the old village of Tvismark. The farm’s exact age is not documented, but captains have lived here for generations, and there are still relics from the sailing days on the farm. Outside, the terrace overlooks the Wadden Sea, while the coffee, according to the place itself, is served in old-fashioned porcelain cups.
